Clean water is a treasure
It was a wet wet Sunday morning but a wild wild time at Marina Barrage. Crowds thronged into Singapore’s first urban reservoir and had a splashing time competing in a host of excitement-filled activities.
I particularly enjoyed the Walk on Water competition, which saw participants walking on water in specially designed “buoyancy shoes”. Apart from the fun and bonding which were clearly palpable, these activities aim to foster a closer relationship with water. By cultivating ownership of this precious gift, we will be motivated to value it. As one canoeist aptly put across: “You won’t want to canoe in dirty water.”
Here’s a simple yet powerful mantra indeed: treasure your pleasure. It was definitely a day of education and entertainment!
